Position Overview Are you a software developer with a deep-rooted concern for the environment, or perhaps an environmental scientist with a knack for programming? We have a unique opening that is tailor-made for individuals with a strong background in programming and a sincere desire to apply their skills to address environmental challenges. Key Responsibilities System Development (45%): Collaborate on the creation of cloud-based environmental data management systems, real-time data acquisition, online data entry, and data visualization for diverse projects. Data Analysis (45%): Assist scientific research teams with data mining and analytics to enhance the quality of environmental research. Existing Systems Maintenance (10%): Ensure the upkeep and improvement of existing data management systems and web applications, including bug fixes, new feature development, and performance optimization. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related discipline, coupled with web programming training, OR a bachelor's degree in computer science, informatics, or a related field. Proficiency in Python programming language and SQL. Training in web development and data visualization using JavaScript. A keen interest in environmental science and/or natural resource management. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Nice-to-Haves Experience with Pandas data manipulation library and Django web development framework. Familiarity with spatial data and web mapping. Experience with Amazon Web Services. Previous work involving environmental, natural resource, and/or wildlife data management and analysis.
