Job Description

We are seeking an Enterprise Network Architect responsible for the strategic planning, design, implementation, and support of our health system's network architecture, including LANs, WANs, and data centers across all hospitals, clinics, and facilities. This role ensures high availability and performance of our systems, working closely with business units to address needs through innovative process and technology solutions. The Enterprise Network Architect establishes and manages standards, policies, and procedures, analyzes and recommends budget allocations, and mentors team members. The ideal candidate will promote teamwork and maintain high standards of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities: Process/Best Practices/Continuous Improvement (20%) Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate networks. Ensure that proposed and existing system architectures align with organizational goals and objectives. Content Knowledge & Leadership (40%) Provide architectural expertise for the technical network infrastructure implementation and integration. Stay current on advances in network technologies to meet business needs. Serve as a subject matter expert across network technologies and solutions, providing troubleshooting and process expertise. Document existing network system architecture and technology portfolio, recommending improvements or alternatives. Ensure design decisions consider all solutions and fall within scope. Projects/Request Management (30%) Develop and leverage team leads for creating project work plans and tasks for IT requests. Assist with managing IT requests by monitoring resource assignment, prioritizing requests with stakeholders, and optimizing resource allocation. Manage the technical architecture for a system-wide transformational Epic implementation. Development (10%) Mentor team members in designing and building technical network solutions. Maintain professional development and growth to stay abreast of changes in network technology and healthcare. Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network technology efforts. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as liaison and coordinate final network problem resolution between customers and IT. Develop system-wide policies and procedures to ensure uniform IT network services. Assist with IT capital and operating budget as requested. Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs. Maintain and ensure the accuracy and completeness of network-related technical documentation. Promote the performance improvement process. Participate in system/project/hospital/department teams or committees as needed. Supervise technical aspects in network-related areas. Travel may be required. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in implementing and managing complex network infrastructure in a large enterprise environment. Valid Cisco CCNP route/switch certification required. Expert knowledge of network architecture, network protocols, design, performance, and development. Strong understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, and networks supporting servers and storage. Proven project planning and management experience. Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities. Understanding of data privacy and security regulations in healthcare. Experience with Quality of Service for Voice and Video, Cisco’s Identity Services Engine (ISE), and supporting DHCP and DNS operations. Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools for access management and troubleshooting. Ability to work with network security devices (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Netscaler, Juniper, Trellix IDS/IPS). Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMWare). Experience with ITSM functionalities such as change control, CMDB, and ticket systems. Understanding of disaster recovery design, implementation, and testing. Ability to work independently and within a team in a dynamic 24/7/365 production network environment. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions: Exposure to stressful situations and environments. Ability to wear personal protective equipment. Mobility within the facility with or without assistance. Ability to perform job functions with overall vision and hearing, with or without assistance. Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Some exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other infectious materials; must follow health and safety protocols. Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and maintain regular and predictable attendance. Overall dexterity required, including handling, reaching, grasping, and feeling.
