About the Team: Our team at OPIS specializes in providing transparent pricing data across the global fuel supply chain, encompassing Spot, Wholesale Rack, and Retail markets. About the Role: As Principal Research Analyst - Carbon Markets, you will lead research efforts focused on the Carbon Compliance Market, including carbon allowances and offsets. You will play a pivotal role in analyzing and understanding the broader carbon market landscape, establishing OPIS as a center of expertise in this field. Reporting to the VP of Energy Markets and collaborating closely with the Director of Carbon Analytics, you will contribute to strategic insights and market innovations. Key Responsibilities: Generate unbiased and well-researched content for Carbon Analytics, including regular reports, special papers, and strategic analyses. Develop and maintain models, datasets, and analytical tools for carbon market activities, integrating energy, gas, and power inputs. Prepare and deliver compelling presentations at client meetings and industry conferences. Collaborate with OPIS Carbon Policy analysts to stay informed about regulatory changes and market dynamics. Contribute to defining the vision and product scope for new Carbon Markets initiatives, actively participating in marketing efforts. Cultivate and manage relationships with key industry stakeholders, including producers, consumers, traders, and financial communities. Required Qualifications: Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the Gas/Power sector or related energy industries. Strong understanding of the energy value chain and market dynamics. Experience with Carbon modeling, assessing environmental impacts, and mitigation technologies is preferred. Proficiency in databases, business intelligence tools, data visualization, and analysis (e.g., Python, SAS, SQL, Tableau, Excel). Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred), Business, Finance, Information Systems Management, Data Science, or a related discipline.
